Fluid TT Window (Aluminium Tilt and Turn)

Elevate Your Home with Fluid Tilt and Turn Windows

Tilt and turn windows are inward-opening windows operated by a single handle, with one position that tilts the sash inward at the top for secure ventilation and another that turns it fully inward for access and easy cleaning. For homeowners, architects and developers weighing ventilation, insulation, security and appearance, this page covers the technical specifications, performance ratings, design details, window size options, operating benefits and how turn windows cost varies by glazing, frame finish and overall specification.

A modern, elegant style

A fully concealed handle

The handle is concealed within the sash, so from inside and outside the window shows no hardware at all and reads as a fixed light, giving it a more modern, elegant style. That is the defining feature of the system and the reason it is specified on elevations where a visible handle would break the composition. Hinges are concealed to match. This concealed detailing also supports large glass areas and slim frames for a cleaner appearance.

Full-height openings

Window size: leaves to 3.5m high and 160kg

Most aluminium tilt and turn systems stop at around 3m. The Fluid TT Window carries leaves to 3.5m at weights up to 160kg, with a 40mm glazing capacity, which brings full-height openings within reach of an opening window rather than requiring fixed glazing plus a separate vent, while the larger format helps maximise natural light. This can also save space compared with splitting the elevation into separate fixed and opening windows. The 70mm frame depth is what carries the additional weight.

Strong thermal performance and energy efficiency

Uw 1.0 W/m2K, triple glazing, and 46dB acoustic insulation

The thermally broken aluminium frame delivers strong thermal performance and energy efficiency, achieving a whole-window U-value of 1.0 W/m²K with acoustic insulation to 46dB — the highest figure across the Fluid Glass window systems, and the reason it is specified on city-centre and roadside elevations. Insulation is further improved by multi-chamber profiles, helping lower energy bills significantly. Air permeability is Class 4 and wind resistance Class C5. double glazed and triple glazing options are available, with triple glazed specifications reducing u-values to 1.2 W/m2K and A-rated energy efficiency ratings achievable depending on specification.

Secure background ventilation or access

Two opening actions from one handle

The handle controls two opening functions from one sash: opening tilt at the top for secure background ventilation, or the turn position to open fully inward for access and for cleaning the outer face from inside. In tilt mode, the sash is tilted inwards at the head and can provide airflow in wet weather with less risk of rain entering. The small opening also keeps the main locking points engaged for better ventilation control and is designed to prevent children from falling out. That makes the system practical at upper-floor and inaccessible positions where an outward-opening casement cannot be cleaned safely.

With multi-point locking systems

PAS 24 and RC2 certified

The system is PAS24 and RC2 compliant, with multi-point locking systems. The tilt position is designed to remain secure, which makes it suitable for background ventilation when a building is unoccupied and can enhance child safety by helping prevent falls when the window is only tilted. Glazing at or near floor level is toughened or laminated safety glass under Approved Document K and BS 6262-4, with toughened glass also available as a safety-led specification.

Finish options to suit modern and traditional property styles

A 66mm sightline on a 70mm frame

At 66mm the sightline is narrow for a tilt and turn, where the mechanism usually demands a heavier frame than traditional casement windows. The 70mm frame depth accommodates the hardware and the 40mm glazing capacity without widening the visible line. Finishes match the rest of the range, with proportions and finish options that help the window suit both modern and more traditional property style.

Designed, engineered, made and installed in-house

For architects, homeowners and developers

We design, engineer, fabricate and install in-house, so the TT window sits alongside the casements, sliding doors and structural glazing on the same elevation with a coordinated finish, with a wide selection of related systems available across the facade. Performance is evidenced rather than estimated. See the system at The Old Rectory, or see one at our Watford showroom.

Architects — where a ventilating window must not show hardware, and where upper-floor cleaning access has to be solved from inside, making it suitable for high rise buildings and other difficult-to-reach locations.

Homeowners — for bedrooms, upper floors and city elevations where secure background ventilation matters and outward opening is impractical; these also work well as replacement windows where new windows need secure ventilation and easy cleaning.

Developers — where one window handles ventilation, cleaning access and acoustic performance on an urban scheme, and can suit different property requirements without visible hardware.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A window with two opening actions from a single handle: tilted inward at the head for secure ventilation, or turned to swing fully inward for access and cleaning. This dual-action design is why tilt turn windows suit both everyday ventilation and easier maintenance.

Leaves up to 3.5m high and 160kg, which is beyond the usual category limit of around 3m. Maximum size depends on window size, glazing build-up and specification.

No. The handle is fully concealed within the sash, so the window reads as a fixed pane from both sides.

Up to 46dB, the highest acoustic figure across the Fluid Glass window range. It also supports strong energy efficiency, with double glazed or triple glazing specifications available.

Yes. The system is PAS 24 and RC2 compliant, and the tilt position is designed to remain secure for background ventilation.

Guide price is £600 – £800 per m², confirmed after drawings or a site survey. Overall windows cost varies with window size, glazing choice and finish.
