Doors run to 2400mm high at sash weights up to 60kg, on glass up to 28mm. That covers full-height internal and external openings while keeping the gridded proportion that defines the style. Multiple sash formats are available, including sliding doors and bifold doors, so a run can be set out in made to measure sizes to match an existing opening rhythm.

Optional glazing bars come in three widths — 20mm, 25mm or 48mm — so the density of the grid can be matched to the period and scale of the building. A 48mm bar reads as a heavier, more industrial division with an industrial style feel; a 20mm bar is closer to a contemporary interpretation and suits contemporary settings. This is the single decision that most affects whether the door reads as authentic in a period setting.

The system is fully thermally broken and achieves U-values from 1.3 W/m²K with sound insulation to 36dB, which is why aluminium heritage doors are used where energy efficiency must meet or exceed current Building Regulations. Modern systems typically use Low E double glazing as standard, supporting that thermal performance while also improving acoustic control. Weather performance is Class 4 air permeability and Class 9A water tightness — the highest water rating in the steel-look range and suitable for exposed elevations.

The system is PAS 24 certified, with a BS certified multi point locking system as part of the security specification, which covers local authority requirements for new dwellings. Glazing at or near floor level is toughened glazing where required for safety under Approved Document K and BS 6262-4, and laminated glass can be specified where security or acoustic performance requires it. Steel-look doors are designed to resist forced entry attempts, and this locking setup provides superior security for homes.

Planners in conservation areas will frequently accept a slim gridded frame where a frameless or minimally framed system would be refused, and the aesthetic appeal of heritage doors often makes them a stronger fit in planning-sensitive settings.
