Garden Lodge
An installation of one of the most expansive skylights in the United Kingdom measuring an impressive 5953mm x 2511mm and weighing over 990kg.
A contemporary twist on Edwardian grace
In an artful blend of past and present, Garden Lodge transforms an Edwardian home into a harmonious ensemble of modern pavilions, seamlessly integrating with the lush garden surroundings.
A contemporary twist on Edwardian grace
The new extension, designed by Coffey Architects, harmonises with the architectural refinement of the existing Edwardian Lodge. It respects the massing and proportions of the original structure, offering the family a low-maintenance expansion that enhances their enjoyment of both home and garden.
Composed of three distinct volumes, the extension creates a cohesive dialogue with the existing home. This approach breaks down the massing, ensuring the new addition feels neither overpowering nor incongruent, maintaining a respectful and understated presence. Two of the volumes house the kitchen, dining, and living areas, while a detached third volume, discreetly positioned to the side, serves as a gym.
Crowned by daylight
The design philosophy champions light as a foundational element. Each pitched roof is crowned with frameless, sleek skylights, drawing daylight deep into the home. This design enhances the airy interior while remaining invisible from the street, preserving the Lodge’s dignified facade.
Notably, the largest skylight in this series measured an impressive 5953mm x 2511mm and carried a weight of 990kg.
This project highlights our commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural innovation, particularly when faced with challenging and ambitious projects (our favourite).
