This North London Victorian house was refurbished to create more space for a family of four.
OVERVIEW
Designed as an indoor-outdoor space
The most notable aspect of the refurbishment was the kitchen extension. A new monolithic insitu concrete wall, connected to the original house by a frameless glass roof, was built to create a new dining area. Designed as an indoor-outdoor space, the dining area includes floor paving, made up of pavement blocks, and a cantilevered concrete bench that runs all the way through to the garden.
CHALLENGE
Create more space for a family of four
The new and enlarged kitchen, fitted with custom-built cherry-wood and steel units, opens up onto the reception rooms. This creates fluidity throughout the ground floor, whilst maintaining the individuality of each space. The informal sitting area and study are lined with floor to ceiling Vitsoe shelving.
